Love is......

Hi everyone and welcome. Today I have created a LO for this months Dusty Attic mood board challenge. The mood board for June is absolutely exquisite, just divine don't you think?

I have used lots of elements from the mood board such as the lace, doillies, thread, sewing, scissors, most of the magical colours, and the wonderful saying (title). The photo is of my eldest son and his wife on their wedding day.

49 and market papers were used for my Lo, which I have machine sewn around some of them. I also did some hand sewing around my title. The 49 and market flowers I used were altered in the centres with mini pearls prills, ice resin glitter shards sterling and pebble rock glass crystal clear. I have dressed the DA chippies in different mediums, the leafy flourish was firstly gessoed, crackle accents applied and once dried I then embossed it using mirror platinum. The medallions which I cut in half were painted with clear gesso with rusting powder applied with white vinegar, once dried I randomly applied inka gold platinum, and prima waxes. The vintage frame was dressed with liquid pearls platinum pearl then wiped over using metalic gliding paste pearl lustre. I dressed the fancy flourish with cosmic shimmer granite paste called gran pearla, I just loved how these turned out and lastly the little black word tag was simply wiped over with some waxes and inka gold. I also did a little stenciling using shimmerz paste-eez which I heat set then rubbed over using the gliding paste. Some lace was coloured  using inklings thunder storm and to finish off I have placed a doily under the photo and scissors from my stash.

Salty Kisses

Wow I have made it, the last day of the challenge which is so not like me. So after a hectic month of being sick, leading to stitches in my mouth and weeks of antibiotics, working shift work as a registered nurse and doing extra shifts to make up for time off, I honestly did not think I would be able to do the challenge this month.

I have used the May challenge monthly tip by maintaining the focus on my photo. I have chosen this photo because of its beautiful colours that I thought represented the May Play board. The two colours I have used are the greens and brown. I also happen to absolutely love dolphins and it has always been a dream of mine to swim with them. My eldest son was fortunate enough to swim with them when he was 19, whilst he was holidaying in Hawaii. I was super jealous when he rang and told me. I just adore this picture of the dolphin kissing him hence the title "Salty Kisses".

The monthly tips for May play were very handy and are featured throughout my LO. The biggest element of my LO is my photo. In order to keep this the star of the show, I concentrated on the greens and blues, from the colour of the water in my photo, adding a touch of grey here and there the colour of the Dolphin to compliment and to keep the focus on my photo. I have clustered my elements and  kept them close to the photo to help maintain the focal point on my picture.  I have used different textures, mediums, beach and water elements to help support the main big element. 

I used 49 and market captured adventure papers and flowers for this LO. I did a little stenciling with paste-eez salt of the earth which I heat set to get a raised effect. I did this through a TCW stencil called mini nautical chains. I used the fish netting part of the stencil. I also did a little stamping using archival ink watering can, with a Gabrielle Pollacco stamp set. I dressed some of the chippies using paste-eez salt of the earth which I heat set to give a bubbled uneven look, I rubbed randomly with dazzlerz sea u in the mornin and walnut distress ink which I heat set again. Other chippies were simply gessoed, stained with walnut ink then rubbed over with creameez firm foundation. To finish off my LO I embellished with 49 and market sand and sea die-cut embellishments, shells which I love to collect when ever I go to the beach, art stones and dress my craft mini ice cubes. Smile

Hi everyone, I am here to present to you my Lo for this months Dusty Attic mood board challenge. I was inspired by the beautiful blues and yellows of the mood board, the flowers and feeling of summer. Here is the mood board for April.

I have titled my LO" Smile" as a very close family friend who is like a second daughter to me, my daughter and myself visited a lavender farm last summer. We had lots of fun, laughed and smiled all day. This photo came to mind as soon as I saw the mood board.

For the dusty attic chippies I have used clear gesso on some, then applied crackle accents, shimmerz inklingz chocolate & diamonds and texturez artie choked. For others I have used gesso then applied inks in various colours and used prills in baby its cold outside. I have used 49 and market papers, flowers and dandelion laser cut outs. I have made splatters with acrylic paint denim. To finish it off I coloured some cheese cloth in shimmerz vibez palm reader and bamboo leaf spritz. I truly enjoyed making this Lo.

Cherish Forever

Hello, I am here once again to share with you a LO I have created for this months mood board challenge for Maja Design. Here where I live it is Autum and the days are starting to get colder and shorter. The beautiful mood board with all of its bright colours and flowers, lifted my spirits and had me dreaming of the day when Spring would be here again. For my LO I have chosen to use another photo that was taken at my eldest son's wedding. The photo is of my parents and myself. I absolutely adore this picture of us. I actually have it enlarged and framed on my lounge room wall. It certainly is one that I will cherish forever. The photo was taken on a glorious spring day, in the beautiful surrounds of nature at the river where I live. The colours my parents were wearing to me captured the mood board although the colour of my mothers top is a pretty lilac and black colour, but it doesn't seem to show up here in the pictures of my LO. Here is my take on it.

I decided to use papers from two different collections for this LO. They are Coffee in the Arbour collection papers and Enjoying Outdoors collection. Maja design papers are just so beautiful to work with. I did some stamping using a Gabrielle Pollacco stamp, added some prills in I cannot tell a lilac to my flower chipboard piece and the other chipboard pieces were coloured using inks in dusty concord and bundled sage. I also used shimmerz creameez purple rain to colour the little flowers on the chipboard. The flowers I used were from different collections that I had in my stash. I love doing these challenges as it gives me reason to raid my stash and use up stuff that I have been hoarding for years. Here are a few close ups.

Just Be You

Hello, I am here with you again today to share with you my LO for the beautiful March Mood Board challenge for Maja Design. http://majadesign.nu/blog/ Take a look at this months mood board isn't it just simply divine.

For my LO I have chosen to use a photo of myself which was taken a couple of years ago at my eldest sons wedding. Boy what a huge day that was. I had, had, a huge week leading up to the special event. Picking up my other sons  best man suit, my daughters bridesmaid dress, studying for my university exams, attending my second sons football grand final, celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary and only just finding a dress for myself to wear two days prior. My son who had not lived with me for many years decided to stay the night before.That turned into a very late night filled with laughter and frivolity. Pay back the next morning when I woke them all very early to eat there big cooked breakfast, before I raced off to the hairdressers. On the big day I was feeling very emotional and stressed, but the weather on the special day was perfect given it was middle of spring and where I live anything is possible. I was inspired by the beautiful colours, and the words of the mood board. Hope you enjoy my take on it.

For my LO I chose to use papers from the new celebration collection. Oh my I dont know about you but I love these papers. The whole collection is just beautiful. I actually used five different papers to create this LO and two from the monochromes celebration collection to match. I did some stenciling using texturez in spun sugar, I then added some flowers by 49 and market and to finish off I added some dusty attic chippies. Here are a few close ups.

All Smiles

Hello, I am here with you today to present to you my LO for this months mood board for Dusty Attic. Oh my gosh, the colour palette for this months mood board is just divine, so very pretty. The softness of the colours and all the beautiful flowers had me thinking of my daughter a few years back dressed in her fairy dress for her 5th birthday party which was held at a fairy shop. She is now nearly 15 and not very much a pink girl at all. The softness of the different tones of pinks in her dress along with the lemon and greens, had me thinking I wanted to create a LO depicting a fairy garden. Here is the gorgeous mood board for you.

 Here is my take on this beautiful mood board.

I started my LO by choosing a beautiful paper called looking through the vines. I then chose to use the DA chippie corner flourish to decorate two corners of my paper. These were first painted with DA acrylic paint in forest. I then embossed them with a lighter green embossing powder, then randomly rubbed with the forest acrylic paint and prima wax lucky emerald. This gave the vines a textured look. The flowers on the vine were treated the same way being painted first with dusty pink, then embossed with raspberry lemonade embossing powder, then lighty rubbed with dusty pink acrylic paint. The Elegant swirls were simply dressed with liquid pearls Blush. My title "All Smiles" was gessoed then wiped over with nuvo mousse Lemon sorbet, then sprinkled with sparkling dust (my take on fairy dust). What fairy garden isnt complete without the addition of fairy dust right............

Treasure the little moments

Hello and once again welcome to my blog. I am here today to present my take on this months Dusty Attic mood board and challenge.

When I first saw this month's Mood Board, I was inspired straight away with the gorgeous colour palette. The tools, muddy boots, timber, the beautiful denim blues and the rusticness of it had me thinking of little boys wearing blue, riding their bikes and getting their trousers caught in their chains and cogs.  My son's would often raid my dad's tool shed, in search of rusty nails, screws and bits of timber to hammer their nails into and of course this would always take place in the dirt.
The photo I have used, is of my youngest son, my little buddy taken a few years back on his 4th birthday. He is now 16 years old, 6 foot 4inches tall, but still very much my little buddy.

I had so much fun creating this LO. Acrylic paints, rusting powder, rust paste, inks, waxes and embossing powder were all used on the Dusty Attic chippies to alter them and to create different textures. I fussy cut some bricks out of paper to create a brick wall behind my photo, as seen in my picture behind my son, is a brick path and wall. I used the DA filmstrip small chippie to poke out from behind my photo to hopefully give the look of a ladder, as we all know little boys love to climb. I also added a little ruler I made, using cardboard, texture paste and a stencil, to go along with the nuts, bolts and screw chippies I used. To finish off my project, I used denim acrylic paint to create some splatters.
